Later they told the story that his daddy (Ralph Earnhardt) told him to wear thin soled shoes to feel the engine...but he could, he could feel the car...Those were the days you went with everything in the trailer...when you could change engines...and we took it and built it from scratch...we were all dirty and full of oil and dirt but we built it and ran it again. We were going to have that car on the track whatever it took...we weren't just dedicated...we never quit...it wound up blowin' again 'cos he ran it too hard...but that race probably helped up win the championship...we just never gave up... - Chocolate Myers
